Carol Jean Carnegie was born November 21st, 1934 in Stephen, MN to Raymond and Geraldine (Richards) Carnegie. She grew up and received her education in Stephen, MN. Carol enjoyed singing and did so with her parents and sisters in the Presbyterian Church choir. She loved to dance and enjoyed all kinds of music. She also loved telling stories. She would tell bedtime stories to her siblings and later on in life, her kids, grandkids and even great grand kids. She worked as telephone operator while in high school. After graduating she moved to the cities and worked as a nanny while attending Minnesota School of Business. After college she worked for an attorney in Warren, MN. Carol started her relationship with Rolland Curry when he was overseas in the Korean War by putting her letters in with the letters that his sister would send him. Rolland and Carol married on August 27th 1955 and resided in Stephen, MN where they started their lives together and raised seven children, along with "half the ham dam neighborhood" (Carols exact words). In the midst of raising her children she worked on the potato harvester and at the Hvidsten potato warehouse. She also was a waitress/cook at the Riviera/Legion and Nordic Corner Café in Donaldson. Carol spent many a day baking for her "family". She also enjoyed the neighborhood coffee parties, playing cards and dice with family and friends. Later in life she and Rolly spent a lot of time at the community center volunteering and playing Bingo. She was a vibrant woman who was full of joy and brought smiles to everyone she met throughout her lifetime. Carol is survived by her 7 children: Debra Curry of Stephen, Rolland (Emily) Curry of Stephen, Lee Curry of Wannaska, Sandra Topka of Thief River Falls, Beth (Todd) Abrahamson of Grygla, Jay (Jen) Curry of Grand Forks and Andrew (Janna) Curry of Thief River Falls, along with 17 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren and a bunch of extras thrown in.
