Betty J. Anderson, 93, of Hallock, Minnesota passed away at her home on Wednesday, October 27th, 2021.
Betty Jane Almquist was born November 27, 1927, in Verona, Missouri to Johannes and Ida (Johnson) Almquist. Betty moved as a child to Minneapolis, Minnesota and grew up there. She was a 1945 graduate of Edison High School. After completing her education, she began working as a switchboard operator at Gambles headquarters in Minneapolis. On August 27, 1955, she was united in marriage to Carrol Anderson in Minneapolis. The couple settled in Rock Island, Illinois for a short time before moving to Jamestown, North Dakota. In 1960 they moved to Lancaster, Minnesota where Carrol became the pastor of Sion Lutheran Church. He served at Sion for 22 years before accepting a position in Strandburg, South Dakota in 1983. After Carrol's passing in 2001, Betty moved to Hallock. Betty enjoyed reading, puzzles and crossword puzzles.
Family members include her daughters, Deborah (Elroy) Bergh, Hallock and Beth Anderson, Ramsey, MN; three grandchildren, Kirsten, Kyle and Tyler; and two great grandchildren, Andriel and Arlo. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carrol; a grandson, Michael; three sisters, Amy, Mabel and Doris; and a brother, Eugene.
Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, November 1, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. in Trinity Lutheran Church, Hallock. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Hallock. Rev. Daniel Ostercamp, presiding. Casket bearers will be Kirsten Bergh, Kyle Bergh, Tyler Bergh, Kayla Johnson, Cristian Johnson and Annie Hoven. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. in Austin Funeral Chapel, Hallock.
