Arlowayne I. Peterson

February 19, 1958 – November 19, 2022

Arlo Peterson, 64, of Neptune, NJ, passed away quietly at home on November 19, 2022, with his wife Carole Anne and his family and friends by his side. Arlo loved life and was taken from us too soon after a long battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. During the fight, he held on to the mantra to "Never Give Up" and encouraged those around him to do the same in dealing with all the challenges that life has to offer.

Perhaps the most important life lesson Arlo taught us is that it's not the destination, but the journey that matters most. Arlo was the second of three children born to Clarence and Iona Peterson. He began his journey in February 1958, on the Amund Peterson Farm along the banks of the Red River in Kittson County Minnesota. After a serene start, his journey brought him to many destinations when his father joined the military. As an "Army Brat," Arlo has lived in Colorado, Arizona, France, California, Virginia, Germany, New York and New Jersey, where he met the love of his life and his soul mate, Carole Anne Del Pizzo. The US Army greatly expanded Arlo's travel horizons and also brought Carole Anne to him, when they met in 1980 while working together at the Officer's Club at Fort Monmouth, NJ. They were married in August 1981, when his many adventures with Carole Anne brought them on countless more journeys in the US, Canada, UK, Italy and the Caribbean. Some people just dream of taking that epic road trip. Arlo was an avid dreamer brought his dreams to reality.

Throughout his youth he was an avid sportsman; running cross country, racing his custom-made Fender bicycle and playing soccer. Arlo graduated from Heidelberg American High School and attended Crookston Community College in Minnesota. He was a master automotive tech, spending the majority of his career with Porsche, Audi, Land Rover, Mercedes, P.E.P. Service Center and Lee's Garage. He also treasured the trips back "home" to Minnesota/North Dakota, where he often worked on the farm with his Uncle Harris Peterson and attended those memorable summer Fish Fries. Arlo had many interests including muscle cars, motorcycles, racing, photography and, of course, travel. A perfect combination to document his many adventures with Carole Anne and his motorcycle buddies. Like his father, Arlo was a Mr. Fix It and has passed his vast technical knowledge on to family and friends alike (while putting together toys, cars, motorcycles and everything in between). He could talk to anyone about anything and strangers became friends very quickly. Arlo held his family and friends close and recognized that they are life's most precious gift.

Arlo was a wonderful Husband, Son, Brother, Nephew, Uncle, Great Uncle and true friend. Arlo was predeceased by his parents Clarence and Iona Peterson, Sister Charlene, Nephew Sean, and Mother and Father-in-Law Carmella and Frank Del Pizzo Sr. He is survived by his wife of 41 Years, Carole Anne, Sister Ramona and her Husband Mike Prevost (Ocean Township, NJ), In-Laws Julia and Vincent Iachetta Sr. (Brick, NJ), Theresa Sigrist (Spring Lake Heights, NJ), Fred Sigrist Sr. (Point Boro, NJ), Catherine and Peter Reichel (Neptune, NJ), Frank Del Pizzo Jr. (Fort Myers, FL), and Fred Czubba and wife Sheila (Ontario, CN) as well as a very large extended family of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.

A celebration of Arlo's life was held on December 17, 2022, at the Neptune City Community Center, 117 3 ^rd Avenue, Neptune, NJ, from 12 noon to 4pm. At a future date, a memorial service will be held at Skjeberg Lutheran Church, Kittson County, Minnesota, which will be Arlo's ultimate destination. The journey will end where it began, with his parents in Kittson County.
