Obituary

Andy Lyberg, 92, of Hallock, Minnesota passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday afternoon, July 8, 2014. Andy was born in Hallock on June 21, 1922 to Andrew and Ericka (Olson) Lyberg. He grew up in Lancaster, Minnesota and attended school there, graduating in 1941. Andy enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served from 1941 to 1947. On October 23, 1945 he was united in marriage to Verna Norland at Thief River Falls, Minnesota. Andy, in partnership, built the Mileage Cafe and service station in 1962 and operated it until 1979. Andy loved the challenge when people would bring him a motor project that others could not fix. It put a big smile on his face when he accomplished the project. He later worked for Cederholm Oil Company, retiring in 1987. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, the Lancaster American Legion and the Hallock Eagles. Andy was a volunteer fireman and served as fire chief for many years. He enjoyed fishing and deer hunting at the "McKinley Hunting Lodge". He is survived by his wife, Verna; a son, Robert (LaVonne) Lyberg, West Fargo, ND; a daughter-in-law, Becky Lyberg, Hallock; a son-in-law, Rick Lindegard, Hallock; a grandson, Erik (Janelle) Lindegard, Hallock; two great grandchildren, Marcus and Hayley; two step grandchildren, Samantha (Jerod) Caufield, Casselton, ND and Cassie Klemetson, Williston, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ericka and Andrew; a daughter, Andrea; two sons, Brian and Duane; and brothers, Carl and Gordon. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, July 14th, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. in Grace Lutheran Church, Hallock. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Hallock. Rev. Frank Johnson, presiding; Renee Wahl, organist; Lyndon Johnson, soloist and Erik Finney, soloist. Honorary casket bearers will be Lancaster American Legion Members. Casket bearers will be Arlen Lyberg, Danny Lyberg, Dean Lyberg, Jim Norland, John Deere and Jeff Deere. Visitation will be held at the Austin Funeral Chapel in Hallock on Sunday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m.
