Amy Lynnette Scharmer, 42, of Drayton, ND was granted her angels wings on Sunday, October 5th, 2014 at Altru Hospital surrounded by her loving family. It is in the heartache following a motorcycle accident on Saturday, September 27th, 2014 that we find comfort in honoring Amy's wish to "Donate Life." Amy was born July 16th, 1972 in Grafton, ND. She graduated from Drayton High School in 1990, then attended East Grand Forks Technical College. After earning a degree as a Medical Administrative Assistant in 1992, Amy worked for three years as Nursing Department Secretary/CNA at Valley Memorial Homes in Grand Forks before moving to Sioux Falls, SD in October 1997 to study massage therapy. Amy graduated from the Sioux Falls School of Massage Therapy in May 1998 and began working at a chiropractic clinic where she combined her medical transcription and massage skills. In 1999, Amy moved to Fargo and began work at Bank of the West where she worked for 10 years in their commercial loan department. For the last 2 ½ years, Amy has been office manager at Big Jim's Tire Up North in Drayton and, more recently, added work with Drayton Charitable Gaming. Amy thrived when in the company of her friends and when doing for others. She served on the Drayton Park Board and was active and endeared as a part of many community causes. She loved her kitchen, doing handi-work and, most of all, riding her Harley Davidson. Amy is survived by her parents Deane and Pamela Scharmer, Drayton, ND; a son Samuel Dietz, Fargo, ND; sister Julie (Craig) Ammann, Sioux Falls, SD; nieces Gabrielle and Melina; grandma Flora Brown, Grand Forks, ND; a very special friend, Gary Harstad, Viking, MN; her beloved cat Calvin; aunts, uncles and cousins; as well as her "family of friends" too numerable to begin to count. Amy is preceded in death by grandparents Richard and Mary Scharmer, and Jack Brown. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Drayton High School Gymnasium.
