Adeline Papenfuss, 76, of Drayton, North Dakota passed away at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, North Dakota on Thursday, August 29th, 2013. Adeline M. Scharmer was born May 9, 1937 at Oslo, Minnesota to William J. and Marcella M. (Jenkins) Scharmer. She grew up in St. Thomas, North Dakota and attended school there. She graduated from St. Thomas High School in 1955 and went on to attend Aakers Business College in Grand Forks. On March 30, 1964 she married Lloyd W. Papenfuss at St. Thomas. They lived in Grand Forks until 1966 when they moved to Drayton. Adeline worked at Raney Hardware in Drayton for over 20 years and also worked at the Spinning Wheel, Hastings Landing and Associated Potato. Adeline worked in the scale house at American Crystal Sugar during the fall harvest for 39 years. She retired in 2010. Lloyd passed away in January of 1985. Adeline was a member of St. Edward's Catholic Church, the Altar Society, PTA and the Homemakers Club. She is survived by her sons, Blaine (Trina) and Bryan (Jennie) both of St. Thomas, ND; and five grandchildren, Wyatt, Emma, Caden, Micheal and Abby. Adeline was preceded in death by her parents, William and Marcella; and her husband, Lloyd. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, September 4th, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Thomas Catholic Church. Interment will be in the St. Thomas Community Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Austin Funeral Home in Drayton on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Rev. James Lauerman and Deacon Mike Grzadzielewski, presiding; Janet Fedje, soloist and Sharlene Klegstad, organist. Casket bearers will be Wyatt, Emma, Caden, Micheal and Abby Papenfuss, Richard Papenfuss and Kevin Lee.
